Message From Nelson Gonzalez, President

While many Latinos in MaBSTOA, TA, and MTA Bus have not become active members in the Hispanic Transit Society, it is with great pleasure to inform you that at our last successful membership meeting, we welcomed new members.  At this meeting, the new members witnessed the benefits of support by congratulating two individuals that had the courage to chanllenge themselves and take on the task of representing employees as union leaders. One becoming a pioneer by breaking the barriers and became the first Latina women taking on a male dominated position. Congratulations to Gladys Arroyo, Recording Secretary of TSO and to Edwin Serrano, Chairman of TSO, for a second term.  The Hispanic Transit Society endorsed and supported them so that they can reach their goals.  An election was held and they won by a large margin.  Congratulations to Gladys & Edwin!

The Hispanic Transit Society continues to serve members by enforcing our mission to the best of our ability.  We are the "Watchdogs" for the betterment of our members.  We stand by our mission to  educate train, inform, and provide workshops, as necessary to help members reach for new opportunities.  In addition, the society creates and organizes many family oriented activities through-out the year, at no cost to the members. The society also engages in activities with our brother and sisters from the other societies on the job.  We collaborate to maintain a long-time-built bridge, to help each other with the struggles we all have been confronted with.
It is a matter  of unity, community and justice for all.

We want to extend our appreciation to all our supporters, which continue to help us reach our goals as we continue to serve our brothers and sisters on and off the job, especially the retirees from abroad in Florida and Puerto Rico.
